Applications
- Surfaces must be clean and free from dust.
- Knauf Sheetrock® All Purpose Joint Compound may have high viscosity in the pail. It may be diluted to a workable viscosity by adding water followed by mechanical mixing.
- Can be applied by hand or mechanical tools.
- When using Knauf Sheetrock® All Purpose Joint Compound, paper tape must be used for taping in the first coat.
- Finish all joints, external corners and fasteners with a 3 coat jointing system.
- Only two coats are required for internal corners
Directions
- Jointing and Finishing First Coat 150mm/300mm Wide (Tapered Edge Joint/Square Edge Joint)
- 1. Cover joint with a thin layer of compound and embed paper tape, leaving at least 1mm of compound under the tape. Feather the edges and allow to dry. Second Coat 200mm/400mm Wide (Tapered Edge Joint/Square Edge Joint)
- 2. Lightly scrape back the joint before applying the second coat, feathering approximately 50mm (tapered edge joint) or 100mm (square edge joint) beyond the first coat. Allow to dry. Third Coat 250mm/500mm Wide (Tapered Edge Joint/Square Edge Joint)
- 3. Lightly scrape back the joint and apply the third coat, feathering 50mm (tapered edge joint) or 100mm (square edge joint) beyond the second coat. Allow to dry and sand lightly.
- 4. Knauf Sheetrock® All Purpose Joint Compound must be allowed to dry thoroughly (up to 24 hours depending on temperature and humidity) before re-coating or sanding.
- 5. Only apply over setting type compounds that have been allowed to dry thoroughly.
- 6. Sand with care using 180 or 220 grit paper. All surfaces including applied joint compound require light sanding, thoroughly dry, dust-free, and not glossy before painting.
- 7. Thoroughly clean all tools and equipment after use.
